Café Keese

Ladies’ choice and live music

The “Paradox Ball” was invented in the Café Keese, the defining feature of which was that ladies chose their partners.

The "Ball Paradox" was once invented at Café Keese. And a golden rule still applies here: the ladies have the choice. Whether at the disco fox party or the tea dance, the women choose their dance partners. The guests are mainly from the 40+ generation and usually appear in evening wear or smart casual attire. With live musicevery day , the dance floor is always busy .

History of Café Keese

The first Café Keese opened in Hamburg in 1948, followed by the opening in Berlin in 1966. Since then, the dance hall has become an absolute cult venue in Charlottenburg. With ladies' choice, table telephones, red velvet furniture and an 80 m² dance floor, the special charm of the 1960s is kept alive. Here you can enjoy tea dances, bingo and disco fox parties in the old Berlin style.

A setting from another era

From the street, Café Keese looks like a quiet invitation to another world: green letters, a glass front and two signs with the words "Ball Paradox". Once you step inside, it becomes clear why the dance hall has been used as a backdrop for a Hollywood film. Between table telephones, disco balls and tinsel, time seems to have stood still for 60 years.

Fixed dates for dance enthusiasts

Hardly anything has changed at Café Keese since the 1960s – not even the dance floor, which is still packed to the rafters. A well-organised calendar of events attracts dance enthusiasts to Keese for various special nights. Tuesdays are for disco fox, the first Wednesday of every month is for boogie and rock 'n' roll, Saturdays are for long dance nights and Sundays round off the week with tea dances and bingo.
