Discover the art of tomorrow
Art lovers should first head for Museum Island, located off Unter Den Linden between the Spree and the Spreekanal. This area is packed with galleries, including the stunning Pergamon Museum, home to many reconstructed historical buildings from the Middle East and beyond, and the Old and New Museums which house the state art collection.
If you prefer modern art, the New National Gallery in Potsdamer Platz houses works by the most influential 19th and 20th century artists.
Contemporary art is on display at the Hamburger Bahnhof museum, a 19th century train station, while there are dozens of private galleries throughout the city with temporary exhibitions on show every week.
