After seven months of intensive training, Musical Theatre Berlin‘s dedicated amateur actors and singers of are ready to shine in this 1987 musical. Bringing Sondheim’s wit to Berlin, they embrace the chaos, comedy, and consequences that feel as relevant here today as they did back then on Broadway.
Fairy-tale favorites—Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Jack, and Rapunzel—find their fates entwined with the Baker and his Wife, desperate for a child. But nothing is straightforward, especially with a formidable Witch pulling the strings. As wishes are granted, bargains struck, and secrets revealed, the characters soon discover that “happily ever after” comes at a price.
