The award-winning documentary premiered in theaters in September 2020. It was subsequently broadcast on ZDF and screened at the original filming locations, such as the Sonntagsclub and the Gethsemane Church in Berlin-Prenzlauer Berg.
The film "Uferfrauen" portrays six lesbian women* who lived in the GDR. With great sensitivity, the film gives the protagonists a voice as they recount their life stories in an open and honest manner.
The documentary was praised by critics and awarded the Debut Prize by the Queerscope Association and the Audience Award at the Hamburg Lesbian and Gay Film Festival. Following the screening, there will be an opportunity for a discussion with Barbara Wallbraun and one of the protagonists.
