WOMEN ART OPEN 2026

Almost 200 female artists will be presented on site, supplemented by digital archives with more than 500 positions.

After its successful launch in 2025, the initiative has grown significantly this year: 54 municipal galleries, museums, art associations and project spaces will present around 40 exhibitions with solo and group shows as well as thematic presentations in a feminist context.


Around 100 events – including openings, guided tours, performances, workshops, talks and live events – will focus on around 200 historical and contemporary female artists. In addition, digital web archives with over 500 female artists will be accessible.

WOMEN ART OPEN represents a joint effort by numerous Berlin institutions – from large museums to independent project spaces – and sends a strong signal for diversity, networking and the empowerment of female artists.

You can look forward to exhibitions, guided tours, workshops, artist talks and performative and interdisciplinary programmes: one month, many art venues, shared visibility!

Note: fair share! will also participate in the global women's strike ENOUGH! on 9 March with a performance at 1 p.m. at the central event at the Brandenburg Gate.

About fair share! Visibility for female artists
fair share! is a widely networked initiative by female visual artists, art historians and cultural workers from Berlin. The aim of its diverse activities and projects is to raise awareness of gender equality in the art world and to increase the public presence of female artists in the long term. In view of current reactionary anti-feminist developments in many parts of the world, fair share! sends a clear signal for the rights of women in general and female artists in particular: art needs equality.
