Winterreise
ou have never heard Franz Schubert's "Winterreise" like this before: countertenor Zvi Emanuel-Marial impresses with his musicality and expressiveness. Based on poems by Wilhelm Müller, Schubert set one of the best-known and most popular song cycles in music history in 1827. Wandering, the leitmotif of Romanticism, is uniquely emphasised in "Winterreise".
Schubert's romantic masterpiece sounds astonishingly present, sadly beautiful and in the special interplay between the alto and his pianist Jonathan Aner in the impressive acoustics of the Friedrichstadtkirche in the French Cathedral.
