The department 5 | School of Culture + Design Berlin of the HTW (Berlin University of Applied Sciences and Arts) celebrates WERKSCHAU and opens the doors to all those interested in culture, those interested in studying, alumni, professionals from the creative industries and all residents.


More than 1000 students show their current work from the fields of communication design, fashion design, industrial design, game design, system design, clothing technology/confection, conservation/restoration/excavation technology and museology, as well as museum management and communication.

The guests can look forward to a colorful program of presentations, lectures, guided tours, round tables, book launches, fashion shows, exhibitions, installations and sales stands with design objects. Open studios, workshops and laboratories provide insights into digital prototyping, screen printing, machine knitting, sewing, model making, the analysis of cultural assets and much more.

Program Highlights
On Friday. 21.7. there are lectures & book launches on the topic of sustainability, future & transformation and the IDiA Demo Day with presentations and pitches from the currently funded startup teams. On Saturday 22.7. the open-air fashion show of the first semester is rising!

Project Highlights
An interactive social design exhibition addresses the future of democratic elections. Museology students demonstrate smartphone guides for interactive tours in the city and on campus. The restoration of historic cars and textiles can be experienced through VR glasses in walk-in 3D models. The "Cycle" project by fashion design & clothing technology presents innovative, textile product solutions for menstrual cycle problems.
