How can women with a migration background achieve political participation? The project "We Are Part of Berlin" concludes its third year with this question.

Since 2023, over 120 people in five groups have been trained, supported, and encouraged to actively participate in social and political processes. Many participants have founded their own initiatives, built networks, and inspired other women.

The project empowers refugees and immigrants from Ukraine—especially women—in their commitment to democracy and civil society. The closing event will present the results of this work and provide a forum for discussion about the future.

How can participation be strengthened sustainably? What role do migrant communities play in Berlin's urban society? And how can women with a migration background become visible as active participants?

These questions will be discussed by:

Dr. Kamila Schöll-Mazurek, Managing Director, Polish Social Council

Tetiana Goncharuk, Human Rights Activist from Ukraine/District Advisory Board for Participation and Integration, Marzahn-Hellersdorf

Antonios Hazim, Hiwarat e.V.

Mahdiah Hashemi, Managing Director, Afghan Women's Association

Moderation:

Tetiana Lopashchuk, Project Manager, German-Ukrainian Office (DUB) / Viadrina Center of Polish and Ukrainian Studies (VCPU)
