Sasha Waltz
In “Travelogue I – Twenty to eight”, Sasha Waltz paints a moral picture of the present with humour, aggression and sensuality that hasn’t lost any of its urgency or relevance since premiering in 1993: a true dance classic. To this day, the timeless piece, which the choreographer herself performed for a long time, still excites audiences worldwide.
The piece, which emerged from a dialogue between five international dancers, received high praise from critics and audiences alike. Sasha Waltz has developed a choreographic language that is rough and passionate, painful and bizarre, aggressive and ironic, charged with sexuality and full of absurdities: a wild, sad, angry, ugly beauty.
In spring 2025, Travelogue I – Twenty to Eight returned to the Sophiensaele and Radialsystem, where it was passed on to a new generation of dancers. Already in 2007, the piece, which has successfully accompanied the company and its audiences through many different countries for over 30 years, was last handed over to a new generation of dancers back in 2007: The idea of a repertoire, a “living archive”, is an important starting point in the artistic work of Sasha Waltz & Guests.
