Ten years: The studio house at Ackerstraße 81 in Berlin’s Wedding district

Twelve years ago, a group of around 20 artists took their studio future into their own hands and, as a civil law partnership (GBR), built a modern studio complex on a plot of land they had previously purchased at the northern end of Ackerstraße in the Wedding district. This building, owned by the GBR, was constructed using the partnership’s own funds; only the green roof was subsidised by the Senate.

For the past 10 years, artists have been working in a wide variety of disciplines within this building.

There is a recording studio and studios for painting, photography, installation art, ceramics, kinetic sculpture, sculpture, graphic art and set design.

Once a year in autumn, the artists open their doors to the interested public and showcase their current work. This year is no exception.

To mark its tenth anniversary, the building and its studios will be open on Sunday 11 October 2026 from 1.00 pm to 8.00 pm.

There will also be live music at several venues within the building.
