Tanztreffen der Jugend: Streetvoices

Production and Ensemble

Streetvoices is a tribute to the voices of the street and the diversity of urban dance culture. The piece explores community, individuality, strength, and why dancing means so much to us. Through this performance, we aim to show who we are, raise our voices, and bring urban dance to the theater stage. The piece was created in 2024 and has been continuously refined ever since. In the process, we continually discover and connect with one another—as dancers, artists, and people—in new ways.

We blend various urban dance styles while leaving plenty of room for our individual expression as dancers. The show is energetic, yet also emotional and soulful. We want to move the audience while inviting them into our world of hip-hop.

We—Maya, Patricia, Tilda, Lina, and Arina—have known each other for just under four years. We met at a youth recreation center in Düsseldorf through a dance class offered by the Landesarbeitsgemeinschaft (LAG) Tanz. Since 2024, we’ve come together as the permanent group SYMBIONYX. We currently practice together two to three times a week in Düsseldorf. Our group is defined by lots of energy, a deep passion for hip-hop, friendship, and a whole lot of fun dancing.
