Works for Cello and Piano by Shostakovich, Bosmans, and others

One of today’s most sensitive and emotionally honest musicians, Tanja Tetzlaff has also been known for bringing issues such as environmental protection and climate change into the concert hall. Composer Thorsten Encke wrote his Black Ice for Tetzlaff’s film project Suiten für eine verwundete Welt (“Suites for a Wounded World”).

Joined by pianist Kiveli Dörken, she juxtaposes his work with a piece by Mexican composer Diana Syrse. Early 20th–century cello sonatas by Shostakovich and Dutch composer Henriëtte Bosmans bookend the program.
