with author Marko Martin and journalist Norbert Kron on the new book "Freiheitsaufgaben"
Germany is at a crossroads: are we facing up to the tasks of freedom or are we giving up our freedom? A rousing appeal against the calls for autocratic incapacitation.
After the great debate surrounding his speech to Federal President Frank Walter Steinmeier, Marko Martin describes his idea of responsible and uncomfortable freedom for the first time.
A shift to the right in the East, despondency in the West. As a native of Saxony and a conscientious objector who left the country before the fall of the Berlin Wall, Marko Martin has been socialized in both East and West. From this special position, he is one of the few to have an eye for the excuses and hypocrisies on both sides. In this book, he encourages us all to re-examine the understanding of freedom. Because the misconception that freedom automatically means happiness is too strong.
But freedom means responsibility and, according to Manés Sperber, is "the categorical rejection of despondency". Couldn't something like happiness arise from this? Marko Martin, influenced by friends of freedom around the world, talks about this like no other.
The event is an accompanying program to the exhibition "Tales of the Dark Days" and takes place as part of "Bühnentausch 2025", a cooperation between the Museum Reinickendorf and the Reinickendorf City Library.
