Music is not only heard, it is also seen
(Andrej Hermlin).
And so The Swingin' Hermlins represent the original sound and look of the 1930s. Swing was
the music of the Great Depression back then; desperate people listened to it because it gave them hope.
During the coronavirus pandemic, from March 2020 to May 2022, Andrej Hermlin and his colleagues gave a free half-hour concert live via the internet every evening at 7 p.m., in varying small ensembles, with friends, with musicians who love Benny Goodman, or Basie, or Miller, or Lunceford.
The first half hour of the concert is also streamed live at the Globe Berlin.
The Swingin' Hermlins have now produced several albums, published a book and played several hundred concerts. Since January 2021, the Hermlinville Times, an extraordinary new cultural newspaper, has been published by the well-known photographer Uwe Hauth and Andrej Hermlin.
