In 2026, the world-famous Museum Island in the heart of Berlin will celebrate its 200th anniversary! The unique historical ensemble of buildings, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1999, comprises five major museums. Construction of the Altes Museum began in July 1825, and since 2025, Museum Island has been celebrating its fifth anniversary with numerous high-calibre special exhibitions. This year, the focus is on the Alte Nationalgalerie, which was ceremoniously opened 150 years ago, with a major exhibition on Impressionism.
