"Once" duo Markéta Irglová and Glen Hansard celebrate official comeback

The Czech singer and pianist Markéta Irglová and the Irish singer-songwriter and guitarist Glen Hansard (The Frames) broke countless hearts in 2008 with the Irish independent music drama Once.

In the film, the two musicians play a duo who meet by chance, grow closer through making music together and build a close relationship, but are caught up in the realities of life. In real life, Hansard's band The Frames, one of the most successful Irish rock bands of the early 2000s, also brought the two together.

Their debut album The Swell Season was released in 2006 and contains songs such as "Falling Slowly", "When Your Mind's Made Up", "Lies" and "Leave" - titles that were not only successful in films but also internationally.

Their second album Strict Joy (2009) brought further successes such as "Low Rising" and landed at number 15 on the Billboard 200. After the single "Feeling the Pull" (2010), the duo took a long break to concentrate on solo projects. At the same time, the documentary The Swell Season - The Love Story After Once was released in 2011, which examines their relationship and sudden global success.

They celebrated their first comeback in 2015 with two concerts at the Sejong Center in Seoul to mark the re-release of Once in South Korea. After another break, they performed six concerts in the US in 2022, followed by 17 more shows in 2023. In the same year, they produced new songs in Markéta's studio in Iceland and released the single "(Was it all worth it?) The Answer Is Yes", which finally confirmed their musical comeback.
