An exploration of the various manifestations of light

In the semester project “Storytelling with Light / Part II,” students at the Berlin University of the Arts explored selected works from both the Gemäldegalerie and the Kupferstichkabinett in the Drawing Lab, in close collaboration with the two institutions.

The focus was on works by female artists from the Kupferstichkabinett’s collection. By examining the use and significance of light in painting, drawing, and printmaking, light became both a lens through which to view the works and a source of inspiration for the students’ own narrative structures.

The presentation of the works in the foyer at the Kulturforum will take place in the presence of the students.

Featuring works by Ben Ballerstädt, Laura Hogrefe, Edlin Jap, Maiia Riabova, Karima Sahidy, and Lorelai Thrasher.

10:30 a.m.–3:30 p.m.: Draw with us! / Draw like Vincent!

Open drawing workshop with UdK students as part of the presentation.

The project was led by Kerstin Hille and Johanna Tiedtke.
