"Umkreisen" (Orbiting) is an exhibition of more or less circular forms, sometimes standing alone, sometimes grouped. They are framed, circled, and encircled by lines.

The formal language evokes associations with cells, single-celled organisms, and other beings, but also recalls celestial bodies, orbits, and stellar systems. The painting thus addresses the vast cosmos, but also one's own inner microcosm and the macrocosm surrounding it. It is about harmony, about the lack of harmony, which is sought in the creation of the images, about the longing for it. In artistic creation, something invisible is circled, energy flows are made visible.

The abstract works arise from the exploration of seen and found structures, lines, surfaces, landscapes, and geology. Musical aspects of notation, writing, and gesture play just as important a role in the visual creation as the collage-like incorporation of old, rediscovered used papers, whose materiality and tactile quality exert a great appeal and whose (unknown) history adds another layer to the works.

Stephanie Krumbholz, born in Berlin in 1967, studied painting at the Berlin-Weissensee Art Academy from 1994 to 1999. In 2000, she was a master student of Werner Liebmann.
