1st event of the debate forum “Quo vadis Environmental Protection? Strategies for a Resonant Human–Nature Relationship” in cooperation with the Museum für Naturkunde Berlin
The protection of natural livelihoods is an important goal of German policy. At the center lies the need to address a wide range of environmental threats, such as climate change, the pollution of drinking water, and the alteration and loss of biodiversity.
In politics, research, and society, these challenges are often perceived as seemingly unsolvable political problems because they are shaped by conflicts of interest, dynamic complex systems, and uncertainty. This perception frequently goes hand in hand with feelings of powerlessness, impulsive action, or symbolic politics.
But does effective environmental protection not require more impactful policy-making?
