"Prussian Festival Songs" is a collection of works by Johann Eccard, the cantor of Berlin Cathedral. It contains wonderful vocal pieces that originated from Eccard's church music practice in Berlin and, previously, in Königsberg.

Together with the somewhat later chants of Johann Crüger, cantor of St. Nicholas Church, these works offer profound insight into the Reformation-era church music of the burgeoning metropolis of Berlin. Cantus Thuringia, a Berlin-based vocal ensemble, has specialized in this repertoire in recent years.

  • Cantus Thuringia | Christoph Dittmar, alto and conductor
  • Sacred vocal works by Johann Eccard, Johann Crüger, Johann Stobaeus, and others
