Caribbean-US-American singer and composer Sera Kalo presents her new album at HAU1. Her music combines multi-layered vocal arrangements, modular synth textures and microtonal nuances.

Kalo weaves Afro-diasporic traditions with broken beat, avant-soul and experimental electronica, creating a soundscape that oscillates between intimacy, resistance and collective memory. She sees her voice as an archive of diasporic experiences that is reconfigured in each performance. In 2025, she received the German Jazz Award in the “Vocal” category.

Sonic Interventions is a diasporic-futuristic ensemble from Berlin, formed in 2020 from the city’s transcultural jazz scene. In their immersive live rituals, the group combines traditional rhythms from the African and Latin American continents with urban sounds such as hip-hop, trap and house. Their performances open up energetic spaces between improvisation, collective experience and musical utopia – moments in which community is reformed and boundaries between music, ritual and political gesture become blurred.

For their artistic work, Sonic Interventions was awarded the German Jazz Prize as “Newcomer of the Year” in 2025.
