SIRAT

Oliver Laxe returns with the hard-to-categorise *Sirat* – an immersive, sensual cinematic experience in the form of an adventure that blends road movie, family drama and Western.

A free-spirited and surprising film that, set to the rhythm of techno and featuring a captivating sound design, paints a dystopian vision of the rave world. At the same time, it is a journey in search not only of a loved one, but also of each protagonist’s identity.

It won the Jury Prize at Cannes alongside the German film *Sound of Falling*, after receiving a long round of applause, and became one of the festival’s most talked-about, most debated and most intensively analysed films from the very outset.

It also received two Oscar nominations – as the Spanish entry in the ‘Best International Feature Film’ category and in the ‘Best Sound’ category –, two Golden Globe nominations, one for the BAFTAs in the ‘Best Foreign Language Film’ category, and a nomination for the César Awards from the French Academy – a nomination that opened the doors to cinemas in France, where it became a box-office hit just as it had in Spain. At the European Film Awards (EFA) in Berlin, it won five awards; six at the Goya Awards and three at the Mestre Mateo Awards organised by the Galician Academy, whilst it truly swept the board at the Gaudí Awards with eight honours.

Following the screening, there will be a Q&A session with the audience, moderated by Olivia López Bremme, accompanied by a wine from the Mallorcan winery Ànima Negra and a special tapa from the Hotel Gat Point Charlie (GatRooms) in Berlin.

The admission price is €10 and includes the film, the discussion, the aperitif and all taxes. Tickets are available via the Babylon website.
