Conservation science in dialog

Packaging for cultural properties should be designed based on various characteristic information of the packaging materials used. The presenter conducted a characteristic evaluation of natural cotton and polyurethane, which are used in packaging for cultural properties in Japan.

Natural cotton in particular is used very frequently, but there is no experimental data available, and it is used in packaging based on past experience and the worker's intuition. The presenter conducted drop impact experiments and vibration experiments on these packaging materials. This presentation will verify the results.
