To round off the exhibition “Ernsthaft glücklich. Seriously Finnish,” the Embassy of Finland is hosting a Midsummer Festival of Happiness in the courtyard of the Nordic Embassies.

Look forward to a varied program for the whole family—featuring music, a sauna, Midsummer dancing, flower wreaths, Finnish food and drinks, a sale of books and design from Finland, and presentations by Finnish partners.

The musical highlight of the festival is Finnish jazz singer Liila Sival. Born in 1997, the artist playfully and fearlessly blends her jazz roots with electronic music, hip-hop, and impressionistic influences.

Of course, a Finnish Midsummer festival would be unthinkable without a sauna, so you can especially look forward to Tampere—the “Sauna Capital of the World”—offering a genuine Finnish sauna experience at the festival.

A Midsummer wreath-making workshop hosted by Visit Åland will also help create the perfect Midsummer atmosphere at the festival.

Anyone who’d like to can let their creativity run wild and make their own Midsummer wreath out of flowers and birch twigs.

You’re also warmly invited to hit the dance floor!

It’s not Midsummer without Juhannustanssit—no prior experience is needed for Silvia Kantim’s dance workshop, just a love of dancing.

Young and old alike can look forward to a colorful program of hands-on activities:

with the Finnish wooden game Mölkky, a wheel of fortune, Finnish scents of happiness, and lucky painting, there’s plenty of Midsummer fun in store.

Refreshments will also be plentiful:

Finnish specialties, coffee, and cinnamon rolls will be served, along with delicious cocktails from Kyrö Distillery Company, Finnish Kukko beer, and lemonade from Laitilan Wirvoitusjuomatehdas.

Movie fans, take note! The festival will feature two screenings of the Finnish arthouse film “Summer Is Crazy” (original title: Elämä on juhla), a bittersweet drama directed by Ulla Heikkilä and released in 2025. The film is set during

Midsummer week in the Finnish archipelago and tells the story of the dreams and disappointments of a family, as well as their friends and lovers.

The film will be shown in the original language with English subtitles.
