Larry Gopnik has just been left by his wife. To make matters worse, his unemployed brother has moved in with him, his son smokes pot, and his daughter steals, so he seeks advice from several rabbis. Like the Old Testament figure Job, Larry is tested by the devil—with God’s permission—through a series of severe misfortunes. A black comedy filled with oddities, curiosities, quirky characters, and offbeat anecdotes.
