Duo Cello Capriccioso: Douglas Vistel, Almuth Kraußer-Vistel

Cello Capriccioso, the duo, is dedicated to a broad and varied repertoire spanning four centuries of cello music, including works by well-known composers such as Tchaikovsky, Bach, Beethoven, Brahms, Schumann, Shostakovich and many others. In addition, there are rarely heard musical gems by lesser-known composers such as Goltermann, Popper, Glazunov, Mjaskowski, Arutjunjan or Ginastera, to name just a few.

The Duo Cello Capriccioso has set itself the goal of giving people easy access to the world of cello music, presenting the rich and diverse cello repertoire and better integrating classical music into everyday life.

In order to realize their vision of a close connection between artists and audience, they have created their own place for cello music in the middle of Berlin, the VISTÉL'S CelloMusikSalon. With more than 120 concerts a year, the duo and their salon are now firmly established in the Berlin music scene.

The Cuban cellist Douglas Vistel and the Berlin pianist Almuth Krausser-Vistel met while studying at the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory in 1991 and have been making music together ever since. In 2007 the duo officially became known as Duo Cello Capriccioso.

The Duo Cello Capriccioso, often referred to as the first BerlinerStadtDuo, sees itself primarily as an ambassador for cello music. In an unconventional and idiosyncratic way, they advocate new forms of communication and mediation of classical concert music.
