Celebrating International Romani movemement
Film, performance, concert, party, and get-together – a multifaceted evening celebrating the International Day of Roma and Sinti.
The International Day is a moment of visibility, remembrance, and resistance – and that is precisely what will be celebrated in the Green Salon. The short film "Interruption of Remembrance" examines current forms of disenfranchisement against the backdrop of the ongoing memorial debate.
Following the screening, filmmaker Estera Stan (RomaniPhen e.V./Das Kombinat e.V.) and Violeta Balog (Amaro Foro e.V.) will discuss responsibility, the present, and political practice. The empowerment project PowerPeng! brings the perspectives of young Roma and BIPoC to the stage – artistically, performatively, politically, and with self-assurance.
The music will be powerful with Mal Élevé: blending reggae, dancehall, ska, rap, and punk, he makes a clear statement against fascism, capitalism, and sexism—and in support of solidarity. The room will be rocking by the time he plays "Resistenza (Bella Ciao)."
For the grand finale, the dance floor belongs to the driving Balkan beats of Smoothin’ Groovin’ (TRU:L & Bogdan D.) and the visionary Roma artist Niko G.—a sound that is underrated and therefore deserves to be celebrated all the more loudly.
Also performing: Estera Sara Stan, Mal Élevé, Nicoleta Ghiță, PowerPeng!, Smoothin’ Groovin’, and Violeta Balog. Initiated by Amaro Drom, Amaro Foro, Das Kombinat, and RomaniPhen.
