The Otto Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Nóra Füzi, embarks on a musical journey between opera and symphony. It combines the mist-shrouded Grail Castle, a poorly lit Parisian staircase and a musical portrait of the city of Rome in the light of the south.
The prelude to Richard Wagner's stage festival play Parsifal meets the rarely performed orchestral suite Roma by Georges Bizet, who is mainly known today for his opera Carmen.
In between, the orchestra takes the audience into the world of the Parisian precariat in the 19th century with excerpts from the first act of Puccini's La Bohème: on Christmas Eve, the tubercular seamstress Mimì and the penniless, hungry writer Rodolfo search for her lost key, and the sad and sweet love story between the two takes its course.
The Otto Symphony Orchestra, which owes its name to its former rehearsal venue in Moabit's Ottostrasse, accompanies young vocal soloists, including Xiaoyu Li in the role of Mimì. Nóra Füzi met her at the Hanns Eisler Academy of Music in Berlin and was able to recruit her for the Otto Symphony Orchestra's programme.
