Guided tour with palace director Jörg Kirschstein, SPSG
Wilhelm II was the first Hohenzollern to use the imposing palace building in Sanssouci Park as a residence for several months of the year. From 1888, the emperor had the palace equipped with modern comforts such as bathrooms, central heating, electric light and a telephone.

Since then, an underground corridor has connected the court kitchen with the New Palace so that food and drink can be transported "invisibly" into the palace. The valuable building fabric and the masterful craftsmanship of the 18th century were taken into account in all the conversions and installations.
Go on a search for clues, marvel at hidden servants' staircases, a passenger elevator for the empress and find out how the extensive baroque palace functioned as an imperial residential palace.
