The cult film "Sonnenallee" is set here, as is a key scene in Wim Wenders' "Wings of Desire". The border section between Neukölln and Treptow was the longest between all Berlin districts. For decades people lived in the shadow of the Wall. When people had gotten used to it, it disappeared in 1989 as unexpectedly as it had been erected in 1961.
