Works by forgotten Jewish composers of the Romantic period

Gernsheim duo Anna Gann (soprano) and Naoko Christ-Kato (piano) present works by forgotten Jewish composers. Many Jewish composers enriched European musical life before the Shoah. During the Nazi era, their works were banned from concert halls and the memory of their work was erased. The consequences to this day: Their names are largely unknown and their plays are rarely performed.

The Gernsheim duo with soprano Anna Gann and pianist Naoko Christ-Kato brings music by forgotten composers back to the concert stage. Performances have taken the ensemble as far as Japan. In 2019 it released the world's first recording of songs by its namesake Friedrich Gernsheim (1839-1916), who worked in Berlin from 1890 until his death and is buried in the Jewish cemetery in Weißensee.
