The small East Berlin neighborhood of Wilhelmsruh played a prominent role for the SED regime, both economically and in terms of propaganda: it was home to the main plant of VEB Bergmann-Borsig, which was indispensable for energy production in the GDR and was regularly featured in DEFA newsreels.

In collaboration with the association “Leben in Wilhelmsruh e. V.,” the “KulturPost” invites you to a film evening. On the program: VEB Bergmann-Borsig as seen in DEFA newsreels and in the documentary “Eigentümer” (1978).

Following the screening, Peter Kloth and Uta Dobruntz will discuss daily working life. The event will take place at the former post office, now a volunteer-run library.

The film evening is taking place in cooperation with the association “Leben in Wilhelmsruh e. V.” and the Berlin Commissioner for Coming to Terms with the SED Dictatorship (BAB) and is part of the BAB event series “My Neighborhood: Stories of Divided Berlin.”
