Contemporary Folk

Mirja Klippel, born in Finland and now living in rural Denmark, has established herself in the alternative folk scene with a unique soundscape: Her music blends the rugged beauty of Nordic landscapes with a deep, yearning mood.

Inspired by Finnish folk, Americana, ethereal dream pop, and indie, she creates a sound that is simultaneously delicate, intense, and beautifully melancholic. With her debut EP, "Lift Your Lion" (2016), Klippel showcased her multifaceted talent as a songwriter, singer, multi-instrumentalist, and producer—earning her the Danish Music Award Folk for Songwriter of the Year.

Her second album, "Slow Coming Alive" (2021), reveals an even more personal side: Inspired by Finnish poems from her youth, she combines thoughtful lyrics on social issues with the intimate soundscape of chamber music. The album received three nominations for the Danish Music Award in the Roots category.

On stage, Mirja Klippel is accompanied by her longtime musical partner, guitarist Alex Jønsson.
