by Circus Sonnenstich
Mimoto, the Japanese word for identity, is the starting point for an extraordinary ensemble embarking on a performative journey into the self within an inclusive we.
The artists of Circus Sonnenstich set sticks dancing, hoops spinning, balancing balls rolling, and diabolos flying. Powerful acrobatics merge with delicate poetry, dance and rap alternate with moments of focused stillness.
All artists collaborate as equals. The lines between trainer and performer, set designer and acrobat, composer and singer begin to blur, overlap, and eventually dissolve.
Sonnenstich artist Olivia Wolff describes the performance like this: “We show the deep feelings that live in our bodies, with love and strength. We rock the stage. We are wild. And we have strenght for ourselves.”
A performance with the power to change how we see ourselves and how we see the world. Perhaps even to make it a little better.
