Wayra Puka: Folk Music from Argentina and the Andes
In recent months, the Argentine singer and composer has solidified her presence with the release of her EP *Crónicas Volume 2*, as well as performances on many stages and at festivals across the country. In doing so, she blends tradition with a contemporary sensibility.
Recognized for her interpretive power and her deep connection to the popular songbook, Milena is entering this new international phase during a time of great artistic growth. The performances on the European tour will feature both versions of the folklore repertoire and her own compositions, which will be part of Milena’s next album.
However, before the wonderful Milena Salamanca captivates her audience with her singing and dancing, Pacha Agus will guide the audience through a Chacarera dance workshop—followed by a concert by the band Wayra Puka.
Wayra Puka plays music from across the Andean region. She takes her listeners on a musical journey from Argentina, through Chile, Bolivia, and Peru, all the way to Colombia. They play a variety of genres and rhythms, such as the Huayno, the Saya, and the Tinku, which bring the flair of Carnival; the Bailecito, the Cueca, and the Chacarera, which originate from Argentina; as well as Andean and Colombian cumbias.
Wayra Puka brings this South American warmth to Berlin with her music.
Doors open at 7:30 PM.
