RSB 100

In the anniversary season of the Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin chamber music ensembles of the RSB will perform at the Humboldt Forum for the first time.

Following the world premiere of the Namibian opera for children, Hijangua, in September 2023 with three performances and six school and family concerts, the musicians will return once again in 2024 to the historic venue where the RSB has performed several times in the Palace of the Republic in the past. Micro-concerts will be inspired by the collections and exhibitions.

- The performances by RSB members will take place during opening hours and admission is free.
- The programme will be announced shortly before the event.

Our tip: In mid-May, the Humboldt Forum opens the exhibition Hin und weg. The Palace of the Republic is Present (16.05.2024-16.02.2025), which explores the history of the site. Loved and hated, admired and reviled, disappeared and yet not forgotten, the Palace of the Republic was the seat of the People's Chamber and a place of representation of the GDR, but also a place of official and everyday culture with modern design and contemporary works of art. In March 1990, the first freely elected People's Chamber was constituted in the Palace of the Republic, where the GDR decided to join the Federal Republic. This marked the end of the GDR history of the Palace of the Republic, and a few days later it was closed by the Berlin city council due to asbestos contamination. In 2002, the decision was made to "dismantle" the building. What for some was the liberation of a representative building of the GDR state of injustice was perceived by others as the erasure of history and the devaluation of East German biographies.
