On his way from Pfaffenhofen to Munich and then to Krakow, where Michael Kornas studied at the music academy and is now an integral part of the local jazz scene, he developed his very own sound between Leberkäs and pierogi, which can be classified as modern jazz.
Together with award-winning and renowned musicians from the Polish jazz scene, he formed the “Michael Kornas Quartet.” The focus here is on empathy for music. Different musical concepts, memorable melodies, and new timbres merge into an authentic work that aims to touch and inspire the listener.
Michael Kornas is the winner of the 2020 Transatlantyk Instant Composition competition. He currently lives and works in Berlin. All members of his quartet are Fryderyk nominees or winners (Polish Music Award) and winners of the most important Polish competitions.
