used by artists to evoke direct reactions and emotions. Language and writing are
probably the most widespread means of communication. Artists often use letters,
icons and symbols to formulate their messages.

Especially with regard to
social media and forms of communication of the 21st century, the signs, memes, images and their
legibility are becoming increasingly important. The flood of compressed
content in writing and images has become indispensable in today's living
environment. Short Messages have been a popular tool of mankind's propaganda
and cultivation even before there were techniques for mass reproduction. The
internet has made the global viral dissemination of information easier and
faster.
The exhibition MESSAGES
examines the question: what is the power of image and writing? and shows the positions of
different generations of artists and writers who live or work in Marzahn as well as works from the
guest artists: Anastasia Alekseevna, Julie
Legouez, Kennet Lekko, Wiebke Logemann, Kilian Riebes, Gregor Kasper, Parrr
Geng, Alexander Wagner.
Organized by the Neue Kunst Initiative (NKI) Marzahn-Hellersdorf. Cooperation project with the Marzahn-Hellersdorf district office, funded by the district culture fund.
