The exhibition focuses on three crucial moments in the history of Lichtenberg with the following question: How long does it take for a village to become a city? Which stages and historical moments have to be reached, which conflicts have to be overcome?

The first documentary mention of Lichtenberg as "Villa Lichtemberge" on May 24, 1288 735 years ago. A commission defined the border and thus regulated economic and political conditions, some of which were still valid into the 20th century.

The second moment is the completion of the Lichtenberg town hall 125 years ago: At the end of the 19th century, the mass influx of people to Lichtenberg posed administrative and infrastructural challenges. As a result, the Lichtenberg town hall was opened on November 11, 1898.

The founding of the town 115 years ago on April 1, 1908 was groundbreaking for today's Lichtenberg district.

The exhibition with an accompanying program presents the significance of the three founding moments in Lichtenberg in the form of photographs, objects and other materials from the collection and archive of the Lichtenberg Museum and the Berlin State Archive.
