Among them are Dr Hamida, a doctor who worked regularly at a remote provincial hospital during filming in 2024, and Rahela, a young midwife who cared for expectant mothers in Kabul. In a living room in the Dasht-e-Barchi neighbourhood, women gathered to continue their education despite the ban on schooling. Through moving imagery, the film tells the story of female resistance and the unbroken determination to remain visible.
In the discussion that follows, the Afghan feminist activist Zahra Mousawy, drawing on her many years of work with women in Afghanistan, will speak with the filmmaker about the current situation, different forms of resistance and the impact of increasing restrictions. Zahra emphasises: “Afghan women are more than just passive victims or symbols. Their resistance is diverse and of global significance.”
The event will be held in English.
