Fairy tales - really grim! Jorinde and Joringel & Little Red Riding Hood

The format, specially developed by the Hexenberg Ensemble, makes clear how closely the crude charm of these fairy tales, their disturbing comedy and unwieldy shudder are linked to the very own fears and hopes of every human being.

Jorinde and Joringel & Little Red Riding Hood

Jorinde and Joringel

...loves Joringel loves Jorinde loves.... yes, beautiful!

But only when hearts break, love becomes great, only fear and pain of irretrievable loss teaches us to appreciate it. A fairy tale, finely spun from poetic stammering, from love, madness, death, rapture and magic, grips us with a cold hand to the heart, until with a bleak, sore sigh it finally holds still forever. Whoever thinks that there is no more room for romantic feelings is mistaken! Jorinde loves Joringel: and only when they have died do they love forever.

Little Red Riding Hood

What a neat girl, quite a walking innocence, what can go wrong... Well, we were urged to remove this fairy tale from the children's program: Agitated parents had too much to explain to their charges afterwards. If you read it aloud, it is quite edifying. What one thinks about it remains private. But one carries it out word-for-word, it becomes explosive. Because this wolf has indeed only one thing in mind: ... - Right, the grandmother, what did you think? And how does he devour her in bed? Correct: With a single swallow, we'll be happy to play that for you. No one, not even the audience, walks out of this fairy tale as sinlessly virginal as they walked in. Let yourself be tempted with Little Red Riding Hood, get off the beaten track for a change, and discover the wolf in you!
