The barefoot cellist from the Alps who touches hearts around the world.
Born on 4 May 1988 in the peaceful hills of the Emmental region of Switzerland, Jodok Vuille not only grew up on an organic farm – he grew up surrounded by rhythm, nature and silence. It was in this simple tranquillity that his passion for music was born. At the age of six, he picked up his first cello... and never put it down.
Encouraged by his family and mentors, who immediately recognised his innate musicality, Jodok completed his formal training and received his bachelor's degree from the Lucerne School of Music in 2011. Determined to further deepen his art, he then completed two master's degrees and earned his coveted concert diploma. But long before graduating, he did something that few classical musicians ever dared to do – he built his own cello by hand. This instrument, crafted in 2006/07, still resonates under his fingers today.
Jodok toured Europe for many years – as a soloist, chamber musician, orchestral musician and teacher. But a turning point came when he began sharing his musical soul with the world via social media. Performing barefoot in breathtaking natural landscapes, he combined cinematic images with classical and modern cello covers, striking a deeper chord – emotion beyond all boundaries.
Under the name ‘JODOKCELLO’, his art exploded online.
With over 13 million followers on Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and Facebook, Jodok became one of Switzerland's most famous content creators – a global musician who brought the cello to Gen Z and far beyond.
His journey led him to collaborations with big names such as Mercedes-Benz, Swatch Group and FC Barcelona, as well as virtual and physical performances with stars such as Alan Walker, IL VOLO, Lindsey Stirling, Teddy Swims, Il Divo, Plácido Domingo Jr. and many more. The Qatari royal family personally invited him to perform in Doha, and in 2024 he was honoured with the World Influencer Award in Cannes.
But Jodok is more than a viral phenomenon. He is a visionary – a modern bard who brings classical music to the people, without filters or pretensions.
Every day, his music is streamed millions of times by fans around the world, each note carrying the message he lives by:
"Music is not just sound. It is connection. It is presence. It is truth."
And as he walks barefoot – sometimes over mountains, sometimes across world stages – he always carries within him the spirit of the Alps, the honesty of the earth and the soul of a cello that was never meant to be confined to closed concert halls.
