The thematic short tour on the construction of the Wall illuminates the special conditions of cultural creation in the GDR and traces the effects of the construction of the Wall in 1961 on Wolf Biermann's life and work. These years of forced consolidation also include the ban on Biermann performing and his expatriation, which was finally enforced in 1976.
Wolf Biermann's biography illustrates the changeful German-German history during the decades of division. Particularly recommended is a visit to "Wolf Biermann. A Poet and Songwriter in Germany" in combination with a short guided tour of the exhibition "Roads not Taken".
