Yui Kawaguchi / Ruben Reniers / Bilawa Ade Respati

The title „Hi” (One), „Dua” (Two), and „Drei” (Three) reflects both the structure of the evening and the artist‘s cultural influences. Three artists of Asian heritage engage with the traditions of their respective cultures from a personal and contemporary perspective – an evening that questions the familiar and opens unexpected dimensions.

In „Mis-sing One”, Yui Kawaguchi revisits the Japanese mythology of the Tsukumogami – spirits awakening in hundred-year-old objects. In the echo of her own dance career, she transforms her body into an “abandoned score,” in dialogue with a light sculpture.

In „SINTA x DAHANA“, drawing from Sinta’s Trial of Fire in the Ramayana, choreographer Ruben Reniers and composer Bilawa Ade Respati present a ritualistic dialogue where fire emerges as both a purifying storyteller and a symbol of modern power.

In „DISTANZ 3.0“, this work reinterprets the legacy of social distancing—a theme born in crisis yet resonating in our divided society today, where bodies connect and separate in an electrifying space.
