With Hatsune Miku, the software developer Crypton Future Media, INC has created a program that has been thrilling fans worldwide on a multidimensional level ever since. Hatsune Miku allows anyone to make their computer sing by entering lyrics and melodies.

The fact that the program’s massive popularity and the sharing of user-generated content online gave rise to a huge fan base—transforming Hatsune Miku into a cultural phenomenon—is like a digital fairy tale of the 2000s.

As a character, Hatsune Miku—with her distinctive blue-green hair—has become a celebrated persona who, in addition to global merchandising, has made her mark in live entertainment as a virtual singer accompanied by a band and performing live.

With a worldwide concert series, the MIKU EXPO has, since 2014, provided an opportunity to experience Hatsune Miku live. A live production that, with its elaborate light shows and animated choreography, has remained unparalleled ever since. In 2024, the tour celebrated its 10th anniversary with six select shows in Europe. It returns in 2026 and will be on stage at Berlin’s Velodrom Dome in November.

In 2007, she was publicly introduced as a virtual character and gained fame through fan-made videos on the internet. Starting in 2008, the character made her debut as a standalone product, becoming the first fully synthetic pop icon. In 2014, Hatsune Miku appeared in select shows as the opening act for Lady Gaga on her ArtRave: The Artpop Ball world tour. This was followed by appearances at Japanese NicoNico-Cho parties as well as the MIKU EXPO. Since 2014, the MIKU EXPO has been touring the world and came to Europe for the first time in 2018, where it has since made regular appearances in Germany as well.

In November 2026, Berlin can look forward to a new MIKU EXPO show—an event that has long since become much more than just a live concert. The tour includes a variety of additional sub-events, such as exhibitions, workshops, and club events, where fans can gather.

The focus isn’t just on the music, but on fans exchanging ideas about the diverse aspects of the creative culture that has developed around Hatsune Miku since 2007.
