In July 1941, the municipal mental hospital for children, known as "Wiesengrund" for short, was established in Wittenau, at Eichborndamm 238/240. In Ward 3, with the deceptive additional name "Children's Department", children were admitted who were classified as "unworthy of life" according to the guidelines of the National Socialist "hereditary and racial doctrine".
Many children died as a result of medical experiments or risky examinations, due to lack of medical assistance or inadequate nutrition. The guided tour at the authentic place explains the history of the former children's hospital by the example of patients' fates. The permanent exhibition in today's history laboratory shows, among other things, a memorial wall for the children who were killed.Translated with DeepL
