Sebastian Studnitzky & Odesa Philharmonic – Music as a Sign of Hope

The goal of the project was to use the recordings and an accompanying music video to send a powerful message: for Ukraine's cultural resilience – and as a call to the international community to provide humanitarian aid.

A few days after the recording session, the nearby Orthodox cathedral was severely hit by a Russian missile attack. The tense situation in Odesa, characterized by daily drone and missile attacks, gave the project an even deeper meaning.

The original idea evolved into an extraordinary concert tour: In March 2024, Sebastian Studnitzky brought the 22-member Odesa Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra to Germany for a series of moving performances. The festival kicked off with a concert at the Odesa Philharmonic Hall – a courageous act of cultural self-assertion. The emotional climax followed in Berlin: a completely sold-out final concert at the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church, which was recorded live and released as an album.

Sebastian Studnitzky – Soundscapes between Jazz, Classical, and Electronic

Sebastian Studnitzky is one of the most stylistically versatile artists on the German music scene. The award-winning multi-instrumentalist (including ECHO Jazz & OPUS Klassik) combines jazz, electronic music, and classical music to create a unique sound. As the founder and artistic director of the XJAZZ! Festival, he has significantly shaped Berlin's music scene. With his project in Odesa, he demonstrates that music not only connects but can also be a light of hope in dark times.
