12:00 Welcome & Introduction

12:30 The incidental music for "Antigone," "Oedipus at Colonus," and "Athalia" by Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy, transcribed for piano four hands, introduced by Marlene Weller

2:30 p.m. Lecture by Katharina Wesselmann, Professor of Classical Philology, Potsdam: Humanistic Education in the Mendelssohn Bartholdy Family

4:30 p.m. Musical city tour with Annette Melzer: Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy's connections to Berlin. See March 16 for more details.

7:00 p.m.: Paphleis. A satirical poem by the 12-year-old Felix Mendelssohn about his 7-year-old brother Paul, performed by the Drama Department of the Canisius College in Berlin, directed by Jan Gursch-Büdenbender. Music by Fanny Hensel and FMB: Beatrice Calderon, cello; Marta Policinska, piano
