One hundred years ago, the Scheunenviertel, with its rich tapestry of stories, was the talk of the town—a working-class neighborhood shaped by a strong culture of immigration, particularly Jewish culture from Eastern Europe. Yiddish store signs in Hebrew script could be seen everywhere. But what was daily life like for the people who lived here?

This walking tour tells the story of life in the neighborhood from the perspective of its residents at the time and sheds light on the stories behind the shops, theaters, and gathering places where German and Eastern European Jews came together.
