Play by Carl Ceiss

Gesche Gottfried, known as ENGEL VON BREMEN, narrates her own case based on historical events: she distributes charitable gifts to the needy and cares for her sick relatives sacrificially. But she is pursued by misfortune, lives in a house of horrors.

After seven years of happy marriage, her husband suddenly falls ill and dies. Then the whole family follows, her parents, her three children, the brother, the second husband, it seems to be a mysterious plague. The Bremen doctor, Doctor Lucius, is at a loss and cannot find a clear diagnosis. Later it even hits their girlfriends, friends, fiancées and neighbors, everyone close to Gottfried falls ill and dies.

In his drama, Carl Ceiss takes up the disintegration of all sociality, the beginning of the dissolution of society and the family for his own, egocentric state of mind. Rainer Maria Fassbinder's "bourgeois tragedy" BREMER FREIHEIT already took up this material, Carl Ceiss clearly expands the motives of the crime in his drama.
